Why 3mL ColourTubes Are the Perfect Touch-Up Size
Most touch-up paints come in large bottles where the majority goes to waste, dries out, or separates. We engineered the 3mL ColourTube to give you exactly what you need: fresh, ready-to-use paint with zero waste, no remixing, and a professional result every time.

The Reason Behind 3mL
3mL is enough for common chip repairs without leftover paint going off. No drying, no separation, no guessing.
Sealed micro-volume keeps water-based paint from drying and prevents pigment separation—no remixing required.
The average repair doesn't need 15–30mL. 3mL gives control and exact application without waste.
Inspired by pipette trials and simple sugar-stick packaging, we refined storage to keep paint stable and easy to use.
Why Not Larger Bottles?
Traditional 15–30mL touch-up bottles introduce air, cause separation, and often leave most paint unused. They need remixing or end up disstory_cardsed. Our 3mL approach eliminates these pitfalls:
- Air exposure = faster degradation in big volumes
- Separation requires shaking/remixing that still may not fully homogenize
- Leftover paint frequently dries or loses consistency
From Pipette Tests to ColourTube
Early Experimentation
Our journey began with commercial use of bottled touch-up paints and pipettes. We learned that small volumes delivered more predictable coverage, and two 0.3mL pipettes could almost circle an average car—making the idea of large bottles redundant for most repairs.
The Lightbulb Moment
Prototyping led us to seal paint in tiny pipette-like containers. Over coffee, inspired by a sugar-stick packet, the ColourTube concept crystallized: single-use-esque precision with reusable performance.
Stability & Performance
We discovered that when water-based paint is trapped between two flexible surfaces with minimal air, it stays wet and consistent indefinitely. The micro-volume system prevents drying and avoids the separation issues common in solvent-based systems.
Frequently Asked Questions
Most chip repairs require a tiny amount of paint. 3mL gives enough for multiple small repairs while staying fresh—larger bottles often go unused or degrade.
No. The sealed micro-volume keeps water-based pigment stable; it neither separates nor dries out like traditional bottles.
Yes. For larger or heavily chipped areas, layering from multiple 3mL tubes gives you control without waste or risk of spoilage.
A few bleeding tints may leave a light stain over time, but they can be kneaded back evenly before opening. It does not affect performance.
For small, precise repairs—absolutely. ColourTubes minimizes waste, eliminates remixing, and keeps the paint stable longer than larger exposed volumes.
